Universidade Municipal de São Caetano do Sul

PRESENTATION

The themes of self-destructive processes, self-mutilation, autoimmune illness, death, suicide and mourning are still taboo, especially in institutions that aim to train health and education professionals. Despite the stigma, we found that the subject is increasingly present in life, either through direct experience, or through the significant increase in cases of homicides, suicides, acts of violence and self-harm, especially in young Brazilians.

This course had its conception based on the belief that the institutions that train health and education professionals should invest in ethical and bioethical discussion, as well as in the improvement of professionals for the elaboration of strategies and collective actions for valuing life, as well as -being biopsychosocial, preventing self-destructive processes and welcoming the grieving process.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Develop an understanding of self-destructive behaviors, the grieving process and assist in promoting actions to value life.
